Amazon is preparing to announce a brand new suite of AI features to Alexa, its voice assistant. Alexa and is reportedly putting forward a monthly fee of $418. The initiative, expected to be launched in launch in August, is an element of the company’s overall initiative to boost Alexa’s capabilities and capabilities. Amazon’s CEO Andy Jassy has shown a personal devotion to the project which is a sign of its importance in the direction of Amazon’s strategy. In a recent letter addressed to shareholders Jassy suggested the possibility of a “more intelligent and capable Alexa,” but specific details are not available.
The changes coming to Alexa in the context of Project Banyan, aim to include advanced generative AI in Alexa, which will allow for an enhanced, personal, and trusted support. Based on an Amazon spokesperson, this technology is already integrated into different parts of Alexa as well as the company is aiming to expand the implementation to more than half billion Alexa-enabled devices around the world. The move is considered to be essential to stay in up with rivals like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI who’s chatbots are setting new standards in conversations with AI.
To Indian customers, the addition of the AI capabilities could greatly enhance the capabilities and experience of Alexa. While it’s popular for everyday tasks like scheduling timers, checking weather, or listening to songs, Alexa has struggled to be a viable business for Amazon. The introduction of these brand new AI features is likely to increase interest and use particularly in an environment where voice assistants are more widely integrated into our lives. But the viability of this project will be contingent on the ability of this initiative to create quality that is worth the cost, specifically in a market that is highly price-sensitive such as India.
